​People are not the problem.
99% of people come to work wanting to do the right thing. I have believed that for 25 years, and I have seen it hold true across different roles and transformation projects.

But when something breaks, the instinct is to look at the people first. The engineer in me dives deep into the root cause, and what I have seen is that the people are firefighting, too busy surviving the day to do anything but apply another Band-Aid to a problem that keeps coming back. The process has not changed because "we have always done it this way." The performance metrics are not aligned to the strategy. The right leadership not present to set direction and hold accountability.

The 4P: People. Process. Performance. Presence. When one of those is broken, the people get blamed. Underperformance? Replace the operator. Missed numbers? It must be the team. Quality slipped? Someone got careless. Project behind? The new manager can't handle it. Fix the four, and the same people who were blamed become the ones who deliver.
